The truth is that traveling and hiking at any level can give teachers a lot of headaches. At the same time, well-planned “field trips” will help students gain a great educational experience, which they will not always be able to get within the walls of the school. Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of school trips.

Of course, we are talking not only and not so much about excursions during the holidays. First of all, let’s talk about targeted, subject excursions, what is commonly called a “field trip”.

 Benefits of hands-on excursions

Field trips provide students with new learning opportunities through experience: a school archaeological expedition, collecting material for a school museum, working at a local biological station, weather station, researching the ecological situation on the ground, and much more.

1. Learning conditions are changing completely. Field exits provide students with the opportunity to gain new knowledge in practice, instead of just passively listening to information being taught in class.

2. Students gain new experiences that can broaden their horizons. This can be especially helpful for students from what we tend to call dysfunctional families. Unfortunately, these parents worry little about broadening their children’s horizons.

3. Key points, theories, concepts learned in class can be greatly enhanced. Sometimes learning information presented in a new way can seriously change a student’s understanding.
